Life of a makeup addict
Life of a makeup addict
I love blue lip stick!!
I got the last one. Gorgeous color and compatible with Milani “Movie Star” lip gloss. It was $3.99 @ Walgreens in a display of blue mascaras from Milani. I will most definitely do a look with this.
Or better yet Revlon “Electro-Shock” lip gloss from the Spiderman Collection.
As a self proclaimed makeup addict it would be uncivilized for me to own only 1 or 2 foundations. I currently have 9 liquid foundations ( not including creams, powders, tinted moisturizers, etc..). So I figured I post my foundation collection and talk about my favorites and not so favorites. I hope this can help someone decide to pickup or skip a certain one. So let’s start with my favs….
1. Cover Girl Queen- All Day Flawless 3 in 1. Almond Glow
This foundation claims to be longlasting, help control shine, conceal and provide full coverage . I purchased it at Walgreens for $8 or $9… under $10.. I don’t really remember. To my surprise this is one of my favorites. It does what it says it will do all for under 10 bucks!!! It is super easy to work with and builds up wilthout being cakey. Blends out evenly and provide good coverage with 1 pump. The issue I do have with this one is that it will transfer easily if I dont set it with powder. Though it claims to have the power of powder, for my extremely oily skin- Nothing but powder has the power of powder. ..lol. I still will wear this one most days when I want medium full coverage, in a rush and will be wearing it all day.
2. Urban Decay- Naked Skin. 10.0
I got this from Ulta for $40. It claims to be weightless, like skin and provide medium coverage. This has slowly become my favorite. Though I have some issues with the color match. This is my second bottle. The first time I picked it up I got the color 9.0, which was sickly light on me. I could have made it work but it was to much effort to correct the color especially when in a hurry ( iam usually in a hurry when doing my makeup). I took it back and got 10.0 , 11.0 was too red… so though 10.0 is a closer match- it is not exact , but easier to blend in my complexion. The consistency is very watery like and makes it easy to blend out. It provides light to medium coverage. I would say it last 6 before it starts to break down and you need to touch up or take it off. I usually choose to wear this one when I wont be somewhere long.
3. Kat Von D- Lock It Tattoo- Deep 66
I got this from Sephora for $34. This foundation if FULL COVERAGE on 10. When I wear this I do not need concealer and it covers EVERYTHING with 1 pump. Just as the Naked Skin. I had an issue with color match. There is a huge color difference between this one and the next shade up in Deep 72… it is alot redder and just not right for my complexion. Also this foundation is very creamy and dries quickly so you have to work fast and in small sections. I find using a buffer brush or beauty blender sponge the best ways to apply. Preferably the beauty blender. Once applied with very little product you will have a flawless face and no reall need for powder. That’s s huge deal for me because as I mentioned earlier I have extremely oily skin. It last all day until you take it off. I wear this one days a I need or want fuller coverage. Since I use a beauty blender sponge with this product I can still manage to use this when i am in a hurry as well..
Now let’s talk about my 2nd hand choices. ..
1. Marc Jacobs Genius Gel -84 Cocoa Medium
I really want to love this as much a YouTube says I should. This foundation is the most expensive foundation I own , at a price tag of $48. As you can see in the photo the color match is very close to my complexion. My issue with this product is that it sheer to light coverage and does build well without looking madeup and still not covering squat. I have acne scars on my cheeks and require more coverage. So if you need more than a 1 pump in a half, it will look like you are made up… not cakey so much. So though the color is a amazing match. The fact that the coverage is so light, it is not buildable how I would like and it is expensive. This foundation is for “good skin” days or people who dont need coverage and need more even skin tone and hydration.
2.Sleek Be Beautiful Blemish Balm –
This foundation is $13.49 @ sleekmakeup.com. Skeek makeup is a UK drugstore brand, kind of like NYX here in the US. They have a wide range of products that accommodates all complexions including women of color. This BB Cream claims to be a primer, tinted moisturizer or concealer , with a SPF of 15. I dont know about all that, but I can say that the coverage is pretty good and it is moisturizing. The primer part I dont think so. A primer to me is not only to help your foundation or tinted moisturizer go in smoothly, it should also help the product stay in place an last longer. This stuff doesn’t last long at all. When first applied it is beautiful- color and coverage. But after a few hours it oxidizes and starts going south. I put this on if I am running somewhere real quick and just want a little coverage if my hyperpigmentation. I would say that after a 3-4 hours. …. Its over for this product. The oils in my skin break through and it is literally sliding off my face. I think the only thing that make me like it is the initial color match and the coverage. I purchased it because I thought it could be a dupe for Nars Tinted Moisturizer. It covers like Nars but that’s about all it does in comparison.
3. Cover Girl Tru -D6
This foundation is ok. It claims to match 99% on skin tones. I cant agree with this because this color is the 2nd to the deepest color. The deepest color they had looked very dark beige and this color can work , but I would not claim it to be my perfect color match. I got this from Walgreens for $ 10. I cant liie and say I use this foundation for any particular reason except for when I just haven’t used it and want to try it out to remind myself of how I feel about it. It last a good amount of time you can wear it to work or a decent skin day. The cover is medium. I wouldn’t suggest that you try to build this up to a certain coverage because , like stated previously the color is a little wonky. If you layer this -it wont look natural. I tend to never use this one mostly because of my Cover Girl Queen 3 in 1 is my go to. I would not recommend this foundation to a friend that is my complexion or one that needed/wanted medium to full coverage.
This will be brief. … My Oh Heck
1. L’Oréal -True Match
2. Maybelline -Fit Me Liquid 355
3. Maybelline- Fit Me Shine Free Stick 355
Ok all of these have the same issues. No pump, oxidizes, transfers like a beast, and melts off my face NO MATTR WHAT. The color match for all of them is pretty close but the turn into a yellowish sickly color and I cant with these…. they just over all make me look worst. The coverage is good at first , but within 2-3 hours its breaking down… nit ti mention transferring to everything I look at at. Its like the stuff jumps off my face and on to any and everything. I know that all makeup transfers to some point, but this is just ridiculous. I will never buy these again and not sure why I still even have them in my possession. … I guess to warn you.. DONT DO IT!!! LOL
I hope this helps any one looking for some new foundations or helps you decide rather to try one if these or not. ..As always Luvs, Thanks for reading and your support. Do forget to follow this blog and givemelipstick on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Pintrest and Instagram <3 <3 <3
I had to update this post. Apparently I never uploaded pictures. …don’t laugh at me. When I first uploaded this post, I believe it was the same day I started thing blog and had minimal clue of what I was doing.
Out of all the Naked palette from Urban Decay, this is my favorite. This palette retails for $52 @ Ulta. It consists of 12, 1.3g pink and rosegold toned eyeshadows, a dual sided eyeshadow brush, and a sample pack of the infamous primer potion
I got 4 sample size primer potions. Roughly a week worth of product in each packet. I haven’t opened this yet because I have tube of primer potion I’m still working on. I love this palette. It is great for every day looks, bridal, prom and even night time. Theses shade are complimentary to almost all skin tones and women of color friendly. Unlike some of the lighter shades in the Naked 1 palette, even the lightest shade worked great on me. All of the colors a just gorgeous. Out of the 12 shades, 2 gave me issues.
As you cam see Dust looks very similar to its name. It blends out to kinds of a glittery mess. Very powdery and alot of fall out. Pretty color but bit of a pain.
Outside of those 2 shades, I have nothing bad to to say about this palette. $52 is a great price for 12 eyeshadows, a eye brush and primer. Let me know what you think of this palette and which Naked palette is your favorite. … thanks Luvs for reading this post and dont forgot to follow this blog AND follow Givemelipstick on Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter and Instagram
Hello luvs!!! Today I decided to show you my favorite go to red lippies. A red lip is classic, sophisticated, and exudes confidence. I dont wear red lipstick often but when I do, these are my go to selection. I hope you see some you like or are inspired to pick on of these reds up and rock it out.
All from different brands and different finishes depending on my mood.
If you would like a more detailed description of each shade. Let me kmow in the comments below and I can review what I think about each color and why I love these particular shades. Thank luvs. … and dont forgot to follow givemelipstick on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Tumblr. <3 <3
Finally I got my hands on both these smokey palettes offered from out favorite online make discount companies, Coastal Scents and BH Cosmetics. In case you are not familiar with either of these companies, they are online makeup stores. They sell a array of makeup and beauty products at a very reasonable price in comparison to other popular beauty brands or even drugstore/ beauty supply store makeup. Both are very commonly known for their eyeshadow palettes. So after much stalking and a sale, I bit the bullet and bought them both.
BH Cosmetics Smoky Palette (no E ) Retail regular price is $21.95. I got mine on sale for around $10 (I dont remember exactly, but it is currently on sale for $7.50!!!!) There are 28 quarter size shades that are mostly pink, purple, blue and grey hued colors. The pallette has a clear cover, that prefer. It is mixture of finishes from matte, satin to velvet and no shimmer.
All colors are swathes over Two Faced Shadow Insurance Primer. All of the colors swatched beautifully except for one. The champagne gold in the 2nd column, first color- looked gritty, patchy and transparent.Other than that I was very impressed with the pigmentation and creaminess of the shadows.
Coastal Scents Smokey Palette regular retail price is $19.99. I paid full price for it. There are 36 nickel sized shadows. This pallette has more of a range of colors and is more colorful than smokey. There is a mixture of bronze, green, blue, pink, purple and grey. When I first got the palette I was a little disappointed. I thought it would be bigger and I thought the shades were more smokey. I think this palette has more bright colors for more of a colorful smokey than a smoldering smokey.
To my amazement these colors were all impressive in quality and pigmentation. All the mattes were gorgeous. Just like the BH Cosmetics Smoky Palette there are a mixture of finishes and also no shimmer but a few frost. I did notice that there are 2 blues that look extremely similar.
Other than that all the colors were great.
Would I say you need both??? Maybe it is the makeup addiction talking but, I think yes….. It’s very few overlap in colors between the palettes. Though they are both called Smoky/Smokey Palettes one seems more bright and fun (Coastal Scents) while other seems more sultry , smoldering and, seductive (BH Cosmetics). I really like the colors in both but as far as Smoky goes– BH Cosmetics WON hands down. Smokey eyes are supposed to be sexy. AND though you can achieve that eith the Coastal Scents Palette, it’s not totally smokey. BH COSMETICS is all smoke and fire. Since getting these, the one I reach for the most is Bh cosmetics. In my opinion the Coastal Scents Smokey Palette is nice to have but not at full price. Buy it during a sale. Its a great addition but not a must have. The Bh palette is worth it even at FULL PRICE!! Mostly because the Smokey palette is exactly what it claims to be and what you would expect of a smokey eye..
I hope this helps you decide which is best for you or even if you want both. Tell me what are your favorite Coastal Scents or BH Cosmetics palettes? ? And what do you think about these palettes??

I went to Target the other to get some household items, but as usual I found myself in the makeup isles. My Target has expanded its makeup department by adding some new brands and increasing there existing ones. One of the new brands they have is Shea Moisture. Shea Moisture, to the best of my knowledge was mostly hair and body care. But now the have makeup that ranges from light to deep dark shades of foundation and bronzer as well as eyeshadow, blush, lipstick and gloss. I opted just to pickup 2 eyeshadows.
They were $4.99 each and are pan only. Which I did know , but I assumed they were magnetized and could just go in my Mac palette. NO, you have to purchase the container or a palette separately. I think for the individual eyeshadow compact it’s $1.99 and the palette was $5.99 or $6.99. This is kind of annoying, but if I love them then I will make it work.
I also picked up some Sonia Kashuk makeup. Sonia Kashuk, as far as I know is exclusive to Target and very popular for there good quality inexpensive makeup brushes. They also have makeup. Unfortunately I haven’t had a lot of luck in the makeup department with them as far as foundation, concealer goes due to limited color range. But I have had success with there blush and brozners. So I went ahead and picked up a blush/ bronzer duo and a glow powder.
Both are beautiful , especially the blush duo. The glow powder may look chalky in the swatch above but it is not. I swatched it heavily to photograph it. Iam. Were both today and will upload pics of it on me later in a review.
Thanks Luvs for stopping by and all of your support. Dont foget to follow this blog and follow Givemelipstick on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and now Tumblr
As promised here are swatches of my Mac lipstick collection. I notice while swatching that quite a few of my Mac lipsticks are limited edition (Sorry)… so what I will do is search through my entire lipstick collection in an effirt to find dupes for the LE lipsticks.
I will also add lip swatches. Lip swatching is taxing on the lips, but bare with me. I will do whatever it takes for my lovely #lipsticknation.
There are all my purples. Favorites are Instigator, Up the Amp and Heroine.l
Pink favorites are Candy Yum Yum, Happy Go Lucky and FLAT OUT FABULOUS. If you do not own Flat Out Fabulous- Then you must buy it today. ..It will change your life..lol
I dont have many red MAC lipsticks and really dont need another. I actually have 2 Riri Woo’s. That is the only lipstick I had to ever back up. Just like Flat Out Fabulous is everything for the pinks, Riri Woo is LIFE for the reds. I know that Riri Woo was limited edition, so unless you willing to pay the Ebay Monster $45 for Riri Woo.. I eou l d suggest getting Ruby Woo. RIRI Woo’s paternal twin.
These I guess I would categorize as other. To be quite honest none of the shade really work on me on their own. The only color of the bunch I have wore alone that work for me was bronze shimmer. It is very natural, summertime effortless on me. The rest of the color need to be mixed with another color or liner to look well on me. That the conclusion. Lipswatches coming soon!!!
